Griffin Identity for iPhone 6 Plus Case Review
      #47266 - 11/04/14 08:09 PM

The Identity cases in Griffin's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus case series include two styles, one is a bumper case plus an interchangeable back cover, and the other is the Identity Performance case that combines the Identity case with a front cover. The Griffin Identity case is available for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and it currently comes in either Graphite or All Clear.

Design

The Identity case is one of the slimmest cases in Griffin's case collection. The back cover is removable and the Graphite version comes with different color accents while the All Clear version comes in just that, entirely clear. The Graphite version has a patterned back that's made with synthetic material and it looks like cheaper version of the Kevlar. The back is easy to remove: take your phone out and the back comes out from the shallow grooves. The bumper on the case is surprisingly thick and the combination of rubber and hard plastic provides protection for a 4-foot drop. The back protects the iPhone from scratches and nicks.

The Griffin Identity case covers the edges of the front display, creating a nice barrier for the screen from chips and scratches when you put the phone face down. The case does not come with a screen protector.

The Griffin Identity's interchangeable back means you can change the back of the case with other compatible Identity cases' backs. We're surprised to see that Griffin is not offering a "pack deal" that lets you buy extra backs. They also offered customized backs for the iPhone 5s where you can make the back covers with your own designs. Griffin is not yet offering that option for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Features

The Griffin Identity case protects the buttons on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with rubber covers, and these buttons are very easy to operation under the protection. The case has generous cutouts for the silence button and the rear camera/flash, giving you easy access to silence the phone and take photos and videos. The case has custom cutouts for the bottom Lightning port, audio jack, mic and the speaker. The case's plastic shell has some thickness, but we had no trouble using 3.5mm audio plugs or alarm clocks or speakers with slightly raised Lightning ports.

Conclusion

The Griffin Identity case is slim and light. The composite-like texture makes the case reasonably grippy and the interchangeable back is a great idea for those who want to have a different looking case yet keep the bumper frame, although customization of the back cover is still not yet available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The case is protective against drops, scratches and bumps. No screen protector is included.
