ZeroLemon Juicer Battery Case for iPhone 6 Review
      #47707 - 02/13/15 05:03 PM

If you need both heavy-duty protection and massive amounts of reserve power for your iPhone 6, this is your case. It's big, though. Really big. The ZeroLemon Battery Case will approximately quadruple the thickness of your iPhone 6, and add about an inch to its overall length. Once installed, it fits perfectly.

Features and Quality

The ZeroLemon Juicer Battery Case is a great example of a case that doesn't try to be all things to all peo-ple. With its enormous 4600mAh battery, you can go all weekend (or all week, depending on your usage) without stopping to recharge, and with its durable construction, you can take it places that would make most cases cringe and whimper. The tradeoff is, of course, size/weight. Yes, it's big and heavy, but if you need this much power and protection, you'd better be willing to make some hard choices. As rugged as it is, it still functions quite well as an everyday case. It doesn't cover your screen or your home button, nor does it impede access volume, power, or the mute switch. As with all battery cases, expect the Lightning port to be unavailable. Instead, a MiniUSB port is provided for charging and syncing. One minor inconven-ience, however, is the need for a headphone jack extender as the port itself is buried deep beneath the case's extended base.

The ZeroLemon Battery Case also features some nice design touches; something I wouldn't expect from a case as brutish looking as this one. While the case isn't waterproof, it does work pretty hard at protecting your buttons and ports from moisture. All buttons are covered, and the mute switch is nestled safely behind a fairly rugged looking rubber flap. Because the base of the Juicer is so thick, ZeroLemon has thoughtfully provided two headphone jack adaptors; one for the original earbuds that came with your phone, and one for 3rd party headphones. It all works quite well, but don't lose those adaptors or throw them away with the packaging; You will need them. The most unusual and welcome feature of this case, however, is the user-replaceable battery. Thanks to this green design decision, you won't need to throw the entire case away when it can no longer hold a charge. When that happens, simply pop open the case back and swap batteries. Considering the durability of the Zerolemon Juicer, I am fairly certain that the battery will expend all its electrons before the case gets around to breaking. On that note, however, it's important to mention that, although it's obviously quite rugged, ZeroLemon does not provide a drop rating for this case. This is not a deal breaker, though, and there are quite a few rugged case manufacturers that choose not to go through this laborious certification process.

Style

The ZeroLemon Juicer Battery Case is a brick. It's black and chunky, and square, and is definitely not built for style. As I said before, this much functionality inevitably comes with tradeoffs in both size and style, but as I also said; it's not going to be for everybody.

Summary

The ZeroLemon Juicer Battery Case provides a ludicrous amount of power for your iPhone 6, and will pro-tect it from most spills/drops/scuffs with ease. Because of its size, however, it's not going to be for every-body. If you need both protection and power in one oversized package, however, and don't want to spend a fortune to get it, The ZeroLemon Juicer is an excellent choice.
