uNu Superpak 10000mAh 3.1A Portable Charger Review
      #47760 - 02/27/15 07:39 PM

The uNu Superpak is a universal portable battery charger that can work with smartphones and tablets. It's universal also thanks to the included charging cable that offers both a Lightning connector and a micro USB connector. The battery has plenty of power that can fill up a smartphone a couple of times and juice up a large tablet.

Design

For a 10,000mAh battery, the uNu Superpak is very compact at 3.5 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches and it weighs 9 ounces. The battery has all three ports on one side including two full USB charging ports and a micro USB recharging port, along with a Power on/off button. The Power button is quite large and you might accidently press it when you pick up the battery. The Superpak has four small white LED lights on the top side, indicating battery levels in four increments. The uNu Superpak comes in black and white and it comes with a USB charging cable that has dual connectors, one is a MFI certified Apple Lightning connector and the other one a standard micro USB.

Features

The uNu Superpak packs plenty of power for charging smartphones and it can also charge tablets. The two USB charging port can power two devices at the same time with one being a 2.1A and the other 1A port. The battery features uNu's uSmart technology which identifies and matches your device's highest charging rate. The battery can fill up an iPhone 6's battery at least 2.5 times and can fill up nearly a full charge of an iPad Air 2's battery. The 2.1A port charges faster. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes to fully charge the iPhone 6 and at least five hours to dump a full charge onto the iPad Air 2 in our tests. The included USB charging cable can charge both Apple devices with Lightning connectors and Android devices with micro USB charging ports, and it can also recharge itself via the micro USB input port using the same cable.

The uNu Superpak uses high quality lithium polymer battery and it has built-in circuitry protection for safety and reliability. The battery has 500 times recharge life. The 2.4A input port allows the battery fast recharging speed; though in our tests, the uNu Superpak still needed at least 5 hours of recharging via AC power.

Conclusion

The uNu Superpak is an excellent portable battery for traveling with multiple devices because it's very compact and fits in any gear bag. The 10K power is more than enough to fill any smartphone on long flights, and also enough to power an iPad Air 2 through nearly a full charge. The included charging cable is the star of the show as it can charge both Apple devices and Android devices. The battery can power two devices at the same time and one of them can be a tablet. The charging times are on par with other 2.1A chargers and the recharging time means you should leave this battery recharging overnight. If you're looking for super fast recharging speed, check out their Ultrapak Tour Battery Pack that takes a fraction of the normal recharging time.
