PureGear PX360 Extreme Protection System for iPhone 6 Review
      #48029 - 05/13/15 04:15 PM

PureGear's PX360 is a great looking and slim case designed for the outdoorsy crowd. Rugged design looks tough, but without a drop test rating, there's no way to be sure.

Thanks to its screw-down design, the PX360 is surprising slim for a rugged case. Measuring up at less than 0.5" thick, it actually looks even slimmer thanks to its nicely beveled edges. the carabiner loop, however, stick out of the top an extra inch so keep that in mind if you use a Spibelt or similarly constrained container.

Features and Quality

The PX360 is a feature-rich rugged daily-use case. While the carabiner loop at the top may seem like a gimmick, you may surprise yourself with how often you end up using it; especially since PureGear was thoughtful enough to give you a carabiner with the case. Even if you're not someone who is likely to clip your phone to a belt loop or the outside of a backpack, you may find it handy for, say, clipping it to a safety tether when you hand your child your phone to keep him/her quiet. There are plenty of uses for something like this; you just have to be creative. The case itself is held together by a series of tiny hex-head screws, which gives it a very solid feel you just can't get with a snap-together case. Installation/removal is a cinch thanks to the included hex-head tool that doubles as a kickstand for your phone. All of the buttons are accessed by very responsive button-covers, although the mute switch is open-air. The bottom panel has a guard that folds back for charging and for when your headphones don't fit through the built-in port. While the PX360 is rugged and will likely protect your phone from small drops, it's important to note that it does not currently have a drop protection rating so don't be too cavalier about tossing it around with reckless abandon. Lastly, the PX360 is not designed to protect against moisture so please exercise caution in wet environments.

Style

As I've noted many times in previous reviews, rugged design is its own style if done right, and the PX360 definitely looks great in this way. The screw-down bezel gives it an industrial look, and the sharp lines and etched edges really complement it nicely. as do the color accents on the back and around the carabiner loop.

Summary

If you're looking for a stylishly rugged daily use case, I can easily recommend PureGear's PX360. The carabiner loop is surprisingly useful, although it does add a bit of size to your phone. Remember, however, that the PX360 is not drop rated or waterproof so exercise appropriate caution.
