MACALLY 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub Review
      #48030 - 05/13/15 04:27 PM

MACALLY's USB 3.0 Hub features 4 ports, and requires no external power of its own. It's specifically designed for Apple's new line of MacBooks, and its anodized aluminum housing looks right at home next to them. The hub is approximately 4.5" x 1.5" x 1" and its attached USB cable is about 7.5" long.

Features and Quality

MACALLY's 4 port hub is both USB 3.0 (5Gb/s) and USB 2.0 (480Mb/s) compatible so it should work flawlessly with both newer and older devices. For things like mice and other pointing devices, you're unlikely to ever notice the difference between the two. However, if you wish to use a hard drive or thumb drive to transfer/store data, be sure to buckle-up for USB 3.0 because it's fast. While this hub doesn't require external power, this also means that it doesn't provide external power to connected devices so it will be limited by the amount of juice coursing through the USB port to which it is connected. on my late model iMac, I plugged in two bus-powered portable hard drives, a high-resolution illuminated mouse, and a thumb drive. All three worked flawlessly, however, if I had a laptop computer to test it on, I'd likely find a different result. You won't hurt anything by trying, however (this isn't TV where if you plug too many things in they explode) so don't be afraid to experiment. Lastly, this particular hub was designed with laptop computers in mind; hence the 7" USB cable and compact dimensions. Of course it will work with desktop computers, but you may find the permanently affixed super-short cord to be a problem.

MACALLY's 4 port hub has a beautiful anodized aluminum housing, with white plastic trim, and will match Apple's MacBooks perfectly.

MACALLY's latest hub is a mobile warrior's dream. It's solidly built, fast, compact, and looks great. Highly recommended.

What's Hot: Turns one USB 3.0 Port into 4 USB 3.0 Ports. No external power required. Anodized aluminum finish looks great next to Apple's MacBooks. USB Cable is permanently attached and reinforced for long-term use.
