iLuv DropArmor X Case for iPhone 6/6s Review
      #48676 - 10/08/15 07:13 PM

The iLuv DropArmor X case is a rugged yet reasonably slim case for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. The case offers dual layer protection from cosmetic damages to drop and heavy bumping shocks, and it comes with a strong tempered glass screen protector. The DropAmor X case is light and easy to use. It currently comes in black only.

Design

If you have a habit of dropping your phone, it's a good idea to get a case that's specifically designed to protect against strong shocks and prevent the glass display from shattering. The iLuv DropArmor X is such a case, though it doesn't have an official military standard testing certificate. The case is cleverly designed: it includes a hard polycarbonate bumper that covers all sides of the phone and also a amount of the front bezel, and a TPU and polycarbonate combined outer layer that's shock absorbent and flexible. The case has extra protection for the corners of the phone where it's mostly like the first to hit the ground in a drop. The case protects the sides of the phone with two layers of protection that ensures in the event of a drop, the sides of the glass will not hit the hard surface first. To further protect the front display, the iLuv DropArmor X comes with a strong 9H tempered glass, scratch free protector.

Features

For a body-armor type of case, the iLuv DropArmor X is super easy to install and take off. The dual layer case comes in two parts and you must install them one after another. The hard polycarbonate bumper goes on first, and the outer case clips into the bumper case tightly. The back of the case is polycarbonate that protects the phone from bumps and nicks, but the sides of the case is flexible TPU which makes it easy to install and take off. All the buttons on the phone are also under the protection of the TPU, and they're also easy to use through the protection layer. The case has cutouts for the silence slider, the speaker, the bottom mic and the audio jack. The Lightning port has a pullout cover that protects the port from dust and lint when it's not in use. You should have no trouble using any Lightning cable and 3.5mm audio plug when the phone is in this case.

The iLuv DropArmor X has a generous cutout on the back for the rear camera/flash cluster. It provides more than enough space for the camera to have a full view and the flash to fully illuminate. The front glass screen protector is tailor-made for the DropArmor X case. Since the bumper covers a good amount of real estate on the front bezel, the glass screen protector is slightly narrower than the functional area of the display on both left and right sides. The protector is shorter than the front glass of the iPhone 6s as well, leaving some space above the earpiece and below the Home button. The included glass screen protector is easy to install and bubble free.

Conclusion

If you're looking for a case that's rugged and protects the entire phone, the iLuv DropArmor X is a good option. Its design ensures that the most vulnerable parts of the phone, such as the corners, the sides and the front glass, are well protected, and the case can protect the large back from scratches, bumps and nicks. The case doesn't protect against moisture, but it does protect all the buttons and the Lightning port with TPU. The rugged case is surprisingly easy to use and the tempered glass screen protector is easy to install.
