Moshi iGlaze Luxe Case for iPhone 6s Review
      #48763 - 10/30/15 08:20 PM

Moshi makes several iPhone 6/6s cases that we really enjoyed using, including the glamorous Overture, the sleek iGlaze Armor and the interestingly designed SenseCover. These cases have highly functional design and they look good in every color variant. The new Moshi iGlaze Luxe case for the iPhone 6s however doesn't measure up to the high standards the other Moshi cases set for us, even though it's made with high quality material and is protective of the phone. The case feels slippery and bulky in the hand and it's not easy to take it off of the phone. The Moshi iGlaze Luxe Case for iPhone 6s comes in four bumper colors: Satin Gold, Titanium Gray, Rose Pink, and Alloy Orange.

Design

The Moshi iGlaze Luxe Case for iPhone 6s comes in three separate parts: a metal frame bumper, a rubberized inner bumper and a clear acrylic back plate. The design is sound for protection. The acrylic back protects the phone's back from scratches, nicks and marks, and the inner rubberized bumper, comes in either black or gray, absorbs shock and bumps while the exterior aluminum bumper provides rigid structural protection. The case is easy enough to install: align the back cover inside the inner bumper and install the phone inside, and then cover it with the metal bumper. The metal frame comes in two parts to help make it easier to install the case and to take it off. Installing takes no more than fitting all the pieces together and pressing the outer bumper into the rubber groves. But taking it off rquires some effort. It's easier to use a tool, like a letter opener, to pry off the bottom part of the metal bumper, instead of using your fingernails. Even then, it's not easy.

While the two layers of bumpers and the back cover protect the phone from daily abuse, the metal bumper feels slippery and adds a noticeable amount of bulk to the slim phone. The case does cover the edges of the front display bezel, creating a barrier for the display when you put the phone face down. Moshi says the case is engineered to ensure that it has no impact on antenna reception, and in our tests, we found that to be true.

Features

The Moshi iGlaze Luxe Case for iPhone 6s is functional case. It covers the control buttons on the iPhone 6s with metalized buttons, including the power button, the volume buttons and the silence slider. The case has cutouts for ports and rear camera, and the cutouts are just large enough. The cutout for the silence slider is a bit short, and this means you'll need to use your fingernail to operate the slider. The bottom cutouts are large enough for using with most Lightning cables and headphones, as long as the seatings for the plugs aren't very bulky since the case creates some depth in accessing these ports.

Conclusion

The Moshi iGlaze Luxe Case for iPhone 6s has the right idea in terms of providing sturdy shock protection with two layers of bumpers and some scratch protection for the back. We like the clear back cover that lets your phone's color and design show through, and we also like the color options for this case. While there is no doubt that this case can protect the iPhone from daily bumps, scrapes and even minor drops, it's bulkier than we would've liked and it's slippery. And it's very hard to take off without any tool.
