BEZALEL Futura and Latitude Wireless Charging Solution Review
      #49071 - 01/29/16 08:15 PM

BEZALEL's Futura Wireless Charging Pad is a sleek-looking Qi-compatible wireless charger and the Latitude case is a Qi and PMA compatible charging case for the iPhone 6/6s and the iPhone 6/6s Plus. Together, they provide the wireless charging option that the iPhones lack and the charging case supports BEZALEL's own charging pad as well as public wireless charging options in places like airports, Starbucks and more. The Futura Wireless Charging Pad is now available and comes in black or white; and the Latitude charging case is ready for pre-order in matching colors.

The Futura Wireless Charging Pad comes in a hockey puck shape that isn't uncommon among portable wireless chargers. The look however is sleek and elegant. The black (or white) hard plastic housing protects the charging coil in the center and a clear plastic ring surrounds the housing. The only wired port, the micro USB port for powering the charging pad, has a shiny chrome cover. When the wireless charging pad is charging your phone, the blue LED light pulses and reflects in the clear ring. The charging pad measures 3.9" and it's big enough to hold the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 6s Plus but isn't much bigger beyond that. There's a rubber ring on the bottom of the Futura to help prevent skidding on slippery surface.

The Latitude case is a slim shell case with wireless receiver coil and a built-in Lightning plug for charging the iPhone. The case covers the back and all sides of the iPhone except the bottom where it cuts off and exposes the speaker/mic/audio jack while plugs its built-in Lightning plug in the iPhone's charging port. The case has some texture to prevent it from sliding off the charger when you lift the charging pad in a better viewing angle. It has cutouts for the side buttons as well as the rear camera cluster. The case comes in black or white to match the colors of the housing on the Futura charging pad.

The Futura Wireless Charging Pad is very easy to use and it works with not only the Latitude charging case but also any Qi-compatible phone or tablet. The Futura comes with a USB cable and accepts 5V 2A input power. It outputs 5V 1A power that can charge most smartphones and tablets, and the charging speed is quite good. In our tests, the Futura charged the iPhone 6s from empty to full in 2.5 hours and the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge in 3.45 hours.

The biggest draw for the Latitude case is that it supports both Qi and PMA wireless charging. Though the Qi wireless charging standard has been gaining grounds in recent months, there're still plenty of PMA chargers out there in either public places or in the hands of customers who bought PMA charging pads. The Latitude case supports both wireless charging frequencies so you don't need to switch charging cases when using two different types of chargers. We tested the Latitude case for the iPhone 6s with several wireless charging pads and found that it worked well with almost all of them. The only one it didn't work with was the Woodpuck Bamboo Qi Wireless Charger from

The iPhone has gone through six generations of evolution but it still doesn't have wireless charging built in. Bezalel's Latitude case saves the iPhone users from the headache of betting on one wireless standard or the other. The case is also quite slim and light, yet can protect the phone from scratches and small bumps. The Futura charging pad is modern and sleek looking, and it works well with both the Latitude case and other smartphones with built-in Qi charging capabilities. The Futura is available now and the Latitude will be available starting Feb. 2016.

What's Hot: The case works with both wireless charging standards, and it's ultra slim for a charging case. The charging pad is sleek and works well with all phones.
What's Not: The Latitude didn't work with one of the Qi chargers in our test.
Price: $40 (Futura); $49.90 (Latitude for iPhone 6s); $59.90 (Latitude for iPhone 6s Plus)
