The SD slot is definitely SDIO: I use things like the Palm Bluetooth card with it, and that requires SDIO. There is no SD WiFi card for devices running Palm OS 4, however- the SanDisk card will only work with Palm OS 5 models when their driver comes out later this fall.
The 2.5mm jack isn't a problem if you get Kyocera's stereo headset (works both as a stereo audio headset and a traditional mobile phone headset for calls). It sounds pretty decent with MP3s.
I've been using it as my main mobile phone since I wrote the review, and I still love it!

It really does support SDIO- I used the Palm SD Bluetooth card with my 7135.
However, if you want to use the Kyo as a wireless modem for your notebook, then the included cradle or a cable is by far the fastest connection method. The nice thing about the Kyo is that Verizon's Express Network, data rates are often nearly double GPRS speeds so the notebook surfing experiece will be faster. A shame Verizon and Sprint don't offer BT phones!

I've used the 7135 with the Palm Bluetooth SD card. However, that card doesn't offer a headset profile
The 7135 is flash upgradeable, but Kyocera hasn't offered an OS 5 upgrade. OS 5 requires an ARM family processor and the Kyo's 33 MHz Motorola Dragonball won't suffice.

Have you used the 7135 + bluebooth with a bluetooth headset?
Also - can the Palm OS be upgraded to 5.x? I've not been able to find conclusive info.

Have you actually used the Kyo 7135 with the BT card as a modem for a PC. I would want to be able to download emails on the road, or surf the web using my portable (BT enabled).
Currently I have to: 1) get out the KYO 7135 2) get out the connection wires 3) connect up the Kyo to the portable's USB port 4) launch the Kyo 1735 FaxModem application 5) use the Kyo 7135 as a modem
What I want to do is just call up IE and surf or Outlook and download mail, with the connections automatically occurring through BT. Is this really doable with a Palm BT card in a Kyo and if so, I presume I need some drivers for the Kyo to work this magic?
Let me know, I'm already foaming at the mouth if this can actually work.

I only used the card in the context of the 7135 being the client. What does that mean? The card's drivers and software are really designed for regular Palm OS PDAs which don't have their own Internet connection and need to use a Bluetooth phone as a modem to connect. I won't completely rule it out, but it looked like there was no way to make the Kyo the modem and another device such as a notebook the client.

The card does stick out a bit so you'd need to use a case that has an openning for the SD card slot.
I don't believe it will work with the Prius since the drivers that come with the card are designed for non-phone Palm OS PDAs and don't route audio out via the card.

I never found a way to get the BT card to work with the 7135 when it comes to using the Kyo as a modem for another device.

I haven't heard of a new unit. They seem to come out with a new one every 2 to 3 years-- not too fast.

Has anyone heard anything about a new release from Kyocera? I am thinking of buying the 7135, but would hate to do so the day before an upgrade comes out.

The adapter is designed to work with their bundled headset, so I'm not sure if it would interface with your car. Best to ask the manufacturer.

Not really. Nothing new in the way of adding Bluetooth to the 7135.

I also have a bluetooth enabled Aruca TL, has there been any recent addtions that would allow my 7135 to work with this system?
