Like all current Pocket PCs, the iPAQ 1940 comes with MSN Messenger.

It already has built-in Bluetooth so you won't need an additional card for the iPAQ. However, if you want to connect to the Internet while on the road, you'll need some form of modem (wireless like a mobile phone or wired like a dialup modem) to get that connection.
