I use my Kyocera 7135 in much the same way- it's not my primary PDA, but it has all my PIM info and some docs and is always with me.
Check out www.markspace.com- they make syncing software for the Mac that supports Palm OS devices that don't have Mac support out of the box such as Sony Clies, the Samsung and the Garmin iQue. It works very well.
