What exactly do IP Phone capabilities do on PPC's? I would like to get rid of my cell phone as well as any sort of contract with a cell phone company and use my PDA as a cell phone but I'm finding that if I want to do that, I have to buy the given company's pda/cell phone. I don't want one of those. Is it possible to get a ppc, have wireless (anywhere/everywhere, not just WiFi) internet as well as use it as a phone without having to sign up with a cell phone company?
I don't quite understand this IP concept. Can anyone help?
If you want wireless anywhere, you will need to use a cell phone provider to get that service-- so you're not really getting rid of your cell phone contract. Most VoIP solutions work best with broadband connections such as WiFi-- not sure how good the call quality would be using current cell provider speeds which are considerably slower than broadband.
