You'd need to contact DataViz since they make Docs To Go, not Sony.
To transfer files back and forth use the Documents To Go desktop application, which gives you the option of saving on the card instead of internal memory (at least the newest version does, I think the version that came with the SJ30 allows you to save docs to the mem stick as well).

BTW, besides using the MS Backup app, you can rely on Hotsync to back up your Clie. Every time you hotsync, your Clie is automatically backup up to your PC (all Palm OS PDAs work this way). So, unless you only sync rarely, you should have a recent backup on your PC. Should your Clie every lose its data, just Hotsync it to restore everything
