Does this come down to $$$$$$$$$$ ? Or can U buy whatever U decide on.....?
Anyhoo, I like my Toshiba convertible. Aint perfrect, the dull screen (for multifunction use such as for the pen functions I assume), is outshined by standard LCD or whatever flatscreen monitors. In fact I feed RGB from the Tosh to a 19" dell flatscreen then have a great view.
Since the convertible flips over I end up with a fat tablet. Not a problem. If a problem, and its with ALL laptops and tablets I assume, is ventilation. Set it on yer lap and you get warmed up. Fine if its winter..... IMHO a piece of 1/4" thick masonite with a lip of 3/4" sq wood at one end should suffice, even add a few of those felt or rubber adhesive buttons to raise the computer backside a little more. Just insurance and keeps the crease (((?????)) in yer pants sharp.
The fact that when I filp the screen back to laptop mode the screen is fully protected is a PLUS if carrying it around and using it everywhere except on the Sears Tower observation Deck.
Dont downplay the speech aspect. It WORKS. Be it your speech to text or the computer reading the text to you, it works. The more U use it, just as the more U use the tablet for sketching and writing, the easier it all becomes.
Toshiba has MANY oddball small tools that crowd the menu bar, has all kinds of bells and whistles that to me are useless. They just appear it seems. Cant get rid of some... Like I can print from the Tosh but I keep getting two warning msg EVERY time I boot the machine, and a second later get a third saying it cant recognize my new device a printer.
Have used its wifi once, yes it works. A year later found one of those wierd accessories, and it works like a radar, HAH, and is supposed to help you if you are somehow dull, to show your computer as the center of the universe with concentric circules around it with other devices... WHAT the Bleep is this.......
All in all, I'd pick the convertible. Complete with a decent keyboard.

And the program Microsoft One Note is integral, has special switch on side which can be locked out, just press it and you have a notepad on your screen to sketch write etc on, bang its there no need to filp the lid....if desired. GREAT for math and writing equations......
