I am carrying an Averatec 1050-EB1 of the Averatec 1000 series for one year of budget travel. I bought the machine about a year ago and I have been traveling with it for about six months, primarily in India.
It has been a good machine so far: light and doesn't run too hot. It weighs 3.5 pounds, or 1.5 kilograms, and has a small A/C adapter. The screen is small but very bright and high resolution. This is the 10.5 inch (27 centimeter) series. It has withstood bus rides through the Himalayas and Indian airport security. I did have problems with bad sectors and booting, but recently Windows XP appears to have repaired itself successfully and lately, knock on wood, it has been behaving well.
