UMPCs, those really small tablet format devices that run full versions of Windows, haven't received the best reception. Nonetheless, Samsung, the first manufacturer to offer one in the US, is at it again with their improved Q1 Ultra. They've increased the display resolution to a very usable 1024 x 600, added a split QWERTY thumb keyboard, and packed Vista Home Premium inside. The 7" touch screen is bright, WiFi, Bluetooth and wired Ethernet keep you connected and there's even a model with HSPDA for networking anywhere. But the slow processor keeps us from falling in love.
