Catching up with Sprint, Verizon today announced the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U which is a USB port-based solution rather than a PC or ExpressCard. The EVDO rev. A 595U should have download speeds from 600kbps up to 1.4 megabits/s, and 500 to 800kbps for uploads.
The 595U will be available in stores on August 30th for $179 after a $50 rebate, and it's available on www.Verizonwireless.com now. Unlimited data service is $59.99/month. The card comes with VZAccess Manager for Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Though Verizon has been good at offering a Mac solution, there's no mention of Mac software in the box.
We'll be reviewing Sprint's version of the 595U in the coming weeks.
