Averatec 3250 Notebook won't boot

My Averatec 3250 notebook won't boot up. No matter which boot routine I use (including the recovery discs), the boot up sequence stops and automatically restarts upon reaching the following file in the boot up routine: ENECBPTH.SYS
Anybody out there got a work-around or solution to my problem - short of attaching an eyebolt and turning it into a boat anchor...
