Tomorrow is the official first day for the Palm Pre to go on sale, but the lines started this evening at 10 Sprint corporate stores across the nation. Sprint opened its doors at 6pm Friday to a select group of Sprint Premier business customers to get the first batch of Palm Pre phones at these Sprint stores. We went to the pre-sale soiree in Plano, TX, near Dallas. We say "soiree" as Sprint provided posh snacks, beer and wine to about 100 lucky shoppers.
Each lucky Palm Pre buyer got personal training by Sprint Sales reps and there were Palm sales representatives on hand to do walkthrough of the device and answer any questions.
We chatted with John Dupree, VP of Enterprise sales for Sprint, who sees the Palm Pre not only as prosumer phone, but also a corporate CEO phone as well, like the iPhone. He says Sprint stores will get steady shipments of the Palm Pre throughout the next few weeks and the sales reps are well trained to manage wait lists and get the Palm Pre phones into customers' hands as soon as they come in.
