Video review: BlackBerry Style clamshell OS 6 smartphone on Sprint

If you're like me, SureType and BlackBerry Pearl keyboard was at best a desperate way to enter text. Give me a full QWERTY. And us Americans are supposed to love clamshell phones, so RIM decided to make a full QWERTY BlackBerry flip phone. The BlackBerry Style is indeed a stylish, well made smartphone, despite the low $99 price tag. The Style will be available on Sprint on Halloween. No trick, all treat... that is if you're a clamshell phone fan.

The Berry runs OS 6 and has a 360 x 400 pixel inner display and a QVGA outer display. This is not a touch screen, so the experience is different from the BlackBerry Torch. That doesn't mean that the Style is hard to use; in fact OS 6 works superbly with the responsive optical trackpad. The QWERTY keyboard is closer to the Torch's than the BlackBerry Tour or 9700's, and it's good but not the best RIM has turned out.

The BlackBerry Style isn't overly large and it feels good in the hand. I had doubts about the phone, but in person I really like the look and overall ergonomics. The phone has EV-DO Rev. A 3G and the usual suite of Sprint apps including Navigation, Sprint TV, Nascar and Sprint Music. WiFi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth and a decent 5 megapixel autofocus camera are on board.

Here's our video review of the BlackBerry Style:
