iPhone Game Review: Cave Bowling
Reviewed by ninjackid

I'm sure that if you're a long time iOS gamer, you're bound to have played at least one game by Donut Games. And if you have, you'll probably know that all of Donut Games? titles have a great amount of content and levels that have a 3 star grading system depending on how many points you get. Well, if you're a fan of Donut Games, don't miss Cave Bowling.

Gameplay

Cave Bowling is a physics based puzzler, in which the whole idea is to chuck your ball through various physics puzzle levels, and you unlocked each level by knocking down all the pins. You earn bonus points by collecting bones scattered throughout the levels, and you lose points if you hit an onlooker. So watch out!

It's basically like a catapult game (think Castle Smasher by Donut Games), but only in the way it's controlled. You have the same arrow that can be angled for direction, and a power bar at the bottom to set how hard you want to throw the ball. Another cool feature in Cave Bowling is the fact that once you beat a level, no matter how many stars you get, when you come back to the level to improve your score, your best aim is automatically set to default, making it easier to improve your score.

As you progress through each levels, various bonus items that can either help or hinder you, such as fire which will cause your ball to explode, moving platforms to guide your ball, turtle shells that your ball bounces on, etc. will appear. So you will need to consider more elements and add more strategy along the way.

All things considered, Cave Bowling is a great little puzzler with fun gameplay and ton of replay possibilities. Though no matter how good you are, the world isn?t going to know it as the game has no online leaderboard system, such as Game Center or Openfeint.

Graphics & Sound

The graphics for Cave Bowling are much like the graphics in other Donut games. They have a great amusing cartoonish style, with your caveman throwing his tongue out if he doesn't knock down the pins, etc. They just look great and fit the theme perfectly.

Sound too is a well done in Cave Bowling. The music is caveman inspired and the sound effects are fun to listen to. iPod music is supported.

Conclusion

Cave Bowling is a great physics puzzler that anyone could enjoy, although getting 3 stars on all the levels is definitely no easy task, Cave Bowling has a place for you, whether you're a casual gamer or a hardcore fan of physic puzzlers. Be sure to check it out!
