New iPad App: Master Gardener's Buddy Available Now for iPad
      04/14/11 05:01 PM

This is the time to start your gardening and APPinspect has just launched an app that can help you become a master gardener. Master Gardener's Buddy for iPad is a gardening record app. Upload jpeg layouts via iTunes for garden beds, for many gardens, using scanned sketches or graphic files. Navigate from Garden to Garden Layout to make a new Gardening Day. Choose a Plant Layer to add PlantPoints. View all Layers. Email it in .gbf format so another MGB user can share your Gardening Day. The PlantPoint holds nametag, description, photos, documents, and data in four renameable fields. If you are serious about gardening, this is the app you should check out:

MGB launches in portrait mode (but functions in both portrait and landscape modes) to display the following button choices: Garden List, Layer Settings, Help, and Contact buttons. The app can accommodate multiple users and gardens, and a Change User button appears in green on the top right. Tapping on any user-created garden folder brings up the base layout of the garden map, plus a choice of seven different plant icons indicating the kinds of plants added (trees, bushes, bulbs, perennials, annuals, herbs, and vegetables) and their location, or PlantPoint.

Having created a new Gardening Day, gardeners can choose the planting Layer on the pop-up legend, and then enter PlantPoints in the layer of their choice. PlantPoints in each Layer have a distinctive icon to decorate the garden Layout. Each PlantPoint planted pops up a three-tab data entry form. The first tab shows the name of the gardener, the tag (usually the name of the plant), a description box, and a choice of flags: to plant-neutral, planted-green checkmark, to do-yellow checkmark. The second tab displays four distinct renameable fields, (e.g. light requirements, water requirements, color, and fertilizer requirements). The third tab provides a check off list for uploaded documents (photos, PDFs, etc.), keeping them associated with that PlantPoint.

Feature Highlights:

* Master Gardener's Buddy - the map-based iPad iDiary for the gardening enthusiast
* Add PlantPoints for trees, bushes, bulbs, perennials, annuals, herbs, and vegetables
* Make a complete record of every planting
* Base map with nine transparent layers denoting plant types and location, plus borders and water
* Multiple users may create and save multiple gardens
* Easy export using email or file syncing
* Share your Gardening Day by e-mail in PDF, CSV, or native Garden Package format (.gbp)
* Identify, document, and maintain every plant in a Gardening Day.

There is a lot more you can discover in this full featured gardening app. Master Gardener's Buddy sells for $4.99 and is available now on the iTunes App Store:
