What's Hot: Very cute design, grippy, has perfect cutouts.

What's Not: The case is too loose.

We've all seen many iPhone 4 cases, but few are more adorable than the Case-mate Waddler Case for the iPhone 4. Its abstract design plays with shapes and colors to make the case look like a penguin, and it succeed admirably. This fun case also comes with a screen protector along with a cleaning cloth and an applicator. The Case-mate iPhone 4 Waddler Case fits both the AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 models and come in three colors: black, blue and brown.

Design

If you have an eye for modern art, you will immediately see what the iPhone 4 Waddler Case is going for: the black body with a short flipper is decorated with a white belly and a bright orange beak, complete with two penguin feet that work like a phone charm attached to the case. The case plays with shape as well: the beak and the feet corners have straight lines while the head and belly corners are rounded. The camera cutout plays the perfect part as penguin?s eye. So when you look at the back of your iPhone 4, you see the profile of a penguin. The unique design will attract iPhone 4 users who want to express their artistic side or just want to have something different and adorable. The case design makes the most sense in black, but just in case you are adverse to black, the case also comes in a nice dark teal blue and a reddish brown.

The Case-mate iPhone 4 Waddler case is made with silicone molded to fit the iPhone 4?s form. Like with most silicone cases, the Waddler Case is very flexible and easy to put it on or take it off of your iPhone 4. In fact, it?s a little to flexible, it?s actually easy to come off on its own if you are not careful, for example, grabbing it from your bag by the side of the case can sometimes drops the phone out of the case. The best thing to do, believe it or not, is actually grab it by the penguin feet, which doesn?t push the phone out of the case.

The design of the iPhone 4 Waddler Case also plays with texture. The penguin?s body has textured surface and combine that with the raised flipper, the case offers a better grip than a smooth silicone case would. The sides and the front edges are smooth silicone however, and the volume buttons and power button that are under silicone covers are also raised for better ergonomics. Regardless which part you use to hold the phone in your hand, the iPhone 4 Waddle case is definitely not slippery.

Features

The iPhone 4 Waddler Case from Case-mate has precise cutouts for all buttons and ports on the iPhone 4. You should have no trouble accessing the audio jack, the mic, the silence button and the 30-pin connector while your iPhone 4 is sitting in the Waddler case. As mentioned, the power and volume buttons are covered by silicone but they are raise and very easy to use under the cover. The Waddler Case for the iPhone 4 has a long cutout on the bottom that leaves most of the phone open at the bottom. The nice thing about this is that your iPhone 4 will fit into more docking stations and audio systems while in the case, but the bad thing is that the open is so big and the case isn?t very tight on your phone, as a result, the bottom part of the case feels very loose.

As you can see from this photo, we haven?t had this case for very long, the bottom is already loose:

The silence button cutout is just long enough to accommodate both the AT&T iPhone 4 and the Verizon iPhone 4. And the penguin feet are attached to the bottom right corner of the case securely with a metal holder.

Conclusion

The iPhone 4 Waddler Case from Case-mate provides a good protection from bumps and shocks in a bag or a backpack thanks to the silicone shell and the included screen protector. The case has an eye-catching look and a very nice grip that prevents your iPhone 4 slipping out of your hand. The case design is for the young iPhone 4 users and the young at heart crowd. The only complaint we have for the Waddler is that it?s a bit too loose to start out with, especially for a silicone case that?s only going to get looser.
