BlackBerry phones have traditionally been more rugged than devices like the iPhone 4, and the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 has a sturdy build and metal band for structural support. But the back of the phone has changed from the leather-like surface to a smooth composite material that's slippery. Case-mate has made a rubber case that gives you a much better grip of the phone. The BlackBerry 9900/9930 Emerge Case adds not only a more matted surface, but also creates a sculptured back with cutouts for all buttons and ports. The Emerge case currently comes in black and pink.
The Emerge case for the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 is a form fitting case. Both the Bold 9900 and the 9930 have the same form factory, so the case fits both models snugly. The case is made with an updated polymer material that has a soft surface like a silicone case but more rigid like a rubber case. The Emerge case isn?t very thick, but can certainly protect your Bold from scratches, pokes and bumps in a bag or backpack. The Emerge case also adds another layer of shock absorption should you drop your BlackBerry. The case is easy to put on or take off of the BlackBerry, yet can keep the shape much better than a silicone case.
The Case-mate Emerge case for the Bold 9900 has an interesting back. It?s molded to match the shape of the Bold 9900/9930 on the back, but adds carvings that look like water rippling through the back of the case. It?s a nice touch to break the large space on the back and adds more texture for better handling the phone.
The Case-mate Emerge case for the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 is a very functional case. It has cutouts for all ports and buttons on the phone, and these cutouts offer generous space for operating the buttons and using the ports smoothly in the case. The cutouts on the right side and the top give you plenty of space to use the volume buttons, the convenience button and the screen lock buttons. The left side cutouts for the charging/syncing port and audio jack match the shape and curve of these ports. You should have no trouble using cables and headsets/headphones with the phone in this case. The back cutouts leave out the camera lens, the flash and the speaker hole for full access.
The Emerge Case for the new Bold 9900 and 9930 wraps around the device and covers the edges on the front of the phone. While the front edge cover isn?t wide it?s rigid and strong enough to hold the phone when you put the Bold face down on a table.
If you are not a holster user for your BlackBerry and want a better grip for the Bold 9900/9930, the Case-mate Emerge Case does the trick. It?s protective yet not very thick, the material is grippy yet easy to put on and take off, and the case has perfect cutouts for all buttons and ports. The case adds an interesting look to the stylish Bold 9900 and 9930, and it comes in two gender defining colors. Though the case doesn?t come with a screen protector, Case-mate sells one separately.
