What's Hot: Splash/sand/dust/dirt/mud proof case that securely attaches to the handlebar of your bicycle or equivalent with included hardware. Installs/uninstalls in seconds. Very rugged, and rugged looking. A great balance of protection and accessibility.

What's Not: Nothing!

The StormCruiser is a rugged iPhone 4/4S case that is designed to clip securely to the handlebar of a bicycle. It is virtually splash/sand/dust/dirt/mud proof, although it is not designed to be submerged.

Size and Fit

The StormCruiser installs/uninstalls in seconds by way of two side clips and a hinge on the top of the case. The molded silicone interior holds your iPhone 4/4S securely, and gives full access to everything but the mute switch and docking port. It is not especially bulky considering the level of protection it provides, although it is not designed for everyday use.

Features and Quality

The StormCruiser screams quality and ruggedness. The included handlebar mount is made of extra heavy-duty nylon that doesn't look like it would every come off of your bike unless you wanted it to. It requires a Phillip's head screwdriver to attach to the handlebar, however, the case slides in and out with very little fuss, as well as a satisfyingly loud snap as it locks into place. It also features a ball joint that allows you to orient your phone however you like.

The case itself is also very rugged and completely seals your phone away from airborne moisture and particles. The Joy Factory even went to the trouble of building a tiny hole into the base of the case so you can still use your phone as a phone without removing it. This hole can be quickly plugged with included silicone stopper that stores nicely within the case itself when not in use.

You also have full access to the touchscreen and camera through clear screen covers, as well as volume, home and power buttons by way of silicone button covers. The headphone jack is also accessible by removing a silicone plug that remains safely attached to the case with a small tether when not in use. They even went to the trouble to include a sturdy loop of ABS plastic at the base of the case where you can attach a lanyard or small carabiner.

The matte black, grey, and red color scheme has a nice tough look to it. With a case as functional and specific as this, it would be reasonable to expect form to take a back seat to function However, The Joy Factory has managed to make a very nice looking case without sacrificing any functionality.

If you're a cyclist with an iPhone, you owe it to yourself to buy this case. It's as full-featured and solid as you could hope to get, and it won't set you back a fortune. Even if you're not a cyclist, the possibilities of a case with a ball-joint equipped mounting bracket opens up all kinds of possibilities for the creative outdoorsy camera enthusiast. Keep in mind, however, that this case is not intended to be submerged so if you intend to take your iPhone underwater, look elsewhere.
