We're sure that the $199 Kindle Fire drove Barnes and Noble a little mad, since their competing Nook Tablet came out at $249. Sure you got more storage with the Nook Tablet, but $199 seems like a magic price point. So today the company announced an 8 gig version of their popular LCD tablet and eReader that's priced at $199. It has 512 megs of RAM and is otherwise the same as the $249 model (same VividView display, dual core CPU and software). The older first gen Nook Color is now reduced to $169.
The 8 gig Nook Tablet is available today in stores, according to B&N.
