Editor's Ratings (1-5): 4

What's Hot: Very slim and light, playful colors and prints.

What's Not: Doesn't protect the front glass and the top and bottom sides.

Griffin released a large number of cases for the iPhone 5 at the device launch. The Wise Eyes Case series for the iPhone 5 is the slimmest case that's also very lightweight. The case is made with polycarbonate that can protect the iPhone 5 from scratches and nicks on the back and two long sides. It's easy to use and comes in three colors, blue, purple and black, with similar owl decorations.

The Griffin Wise Eyes Case is immediately eye-catching. It reminds us the Barely There case from Case-Mate for the iPhone 4/4S, but the Wise Eyes are made with durable polycarbonate that's reasonably thick but certainly doesn't add a lot bulk. The case is also very lightweight at 0.6 ounce. The case covers the back, two vertical sides and the corners of the iPhone 5, but leaves most of the top and bottom of the phone uncovered. The hard shell protects the phone from bumps and bruises and some shock damage as the corners are covered.

The Griffin Wise Eyes Case wraps around the sides and raised above the front glass ever so slight so that when you put the phone face down, the edges of the case will touch the surface protecting the screen. The case doesn't come with any film protector but works with any screen shield you get separately.

The Griffin Wise Eyes Case for the iPhone 5 is a super functional case. All ports and buttons are exposed for easy access. Since the case leaves most of the top and bottom open, you have free access to the power button, speaker, mics, audio jack and the Lightning port. The case has a large cutout on the side to give you easy access to the silence button and volume buttons. The rear camera and flash also enjoy a generous cutout. The lens has a full view and the flash can fully illuminate.

The Griffin Wise Eyes Case Series for the iPhone 5 is a slim and light case that protects your iPhone 5 from scratches, dents and nicks with its hard shell. The case also provides some shock damage as it covers the corners of the iPhone 5. The case is easy to use and is super functional even when you use audio accessories like speakers and alarms with your phone in this case. The owl print is playful and the case comes in three colors. It doesn't cover the top and bottom of the iPhone 5 except the corners and it doesn't come with any screen protector for the front glass.
