We've seen quite a few iPhone 5 cases already, but none is as cute as the Griffin KaZoo Case for iPhone 5. Molded into a design that resembles either an elephant or a monkey, the Griffin KaZoo Cases are unique looking and very protective of the iPhone 5. The KaZoo series for iPhone 5 currently comes in two friendly animal designs.
The Griffin KaZoo Case for iPhone 5 is made with silicone that covers the back and sides of the iPhone 5. The silicone material is thicker than most silicone cases we've seen and the added thickness provides extra protection against pokes, bumps as well as shock damage. All four corners and sides have thicker silicone except the bottom where a large cutout exposes the bottom ports. The reinforced corners and sides give the iPhone 5 great protection should you drop the phone or hit it on a hard surface with the back and sides, but they also add considerable amount of bulk to the slim phone.
The Griffin KaZoo Case for iPhone 5 covers front edges of the display and also the front glass below the screen. The case creates a very nice barrier for the glass when you put the phone face down on a surface. The KaZoo case is reasonably form fitting, though the silicone doesn't cover the top of the phone tightly. It's a bit too loose and the top corners might get caught on something in your bag and drag the case off the phone.
The Griffin KaZoo Case feels very soft and smooth in hand, and it's not very slippery. The teal blue and white fit the elephant design perfectly and the brown and yellow fit the monkey design equally as well.
The Griffin KaZoo Case for iPhone 5 might look bulky but the cutouts for ports are well designed. The case has a large cutout on the bottom, so you have access to all the bottom audio ports and the Lightning port. The cutout for the silence button is deep as it's through a thicker piece of silicone, and you should have no trouble using it easily. The rear camera cutout leaves enough space for the lens to have a full view and the black frame prevents the flash to white out. The case protects the power button and volume buttons under the cover. They're all easy to use thanks to the raised silicone buttons the cover the hardware buttons. The case also offers a raised button in the shape of an elephant's palm print that covers the front Home button.
They don't get cuter than these. The Griffin KaZoo Cases are great if you often hand your iPhone 5 to your kid. They're colorful and engaging, and they provide extra protection from bumps and drops. Though the thicker case adds some bulk, it feels more comfortable for kids to operate the phone with two hands while the phone is in this case. All the buttons are protected against splashes and bumps and all ports are easily accessible. The Griffin KaZoo Case might look strange to an adult, but for its intended audience, the design makes a lot of sense. The case doesn't include a screen cover.
