Trident makes rugged cases for many mobile devices. The Aegis series case is one of the most popular Trident case models, as it offers great protections while keeping the case relatively slim. The Aegis iPhone 5 case comes in two layers of protection with very functional features and it's very easy to use. The two tone case offers five color combos including green, red, pink, blue and black.
The Trident Aegis Case for Apple iPhone 5 has an inner layer of silicone suit that hugs the phone in a firm fitting. The silicone layer is thicker around the corners and on the sides of the phone to provide extra shock absorption, and the silicone pieces covering the buttons and ports are also thick and robust. The silicone cover also wraps around the front, creating a substantial barrier for the display when you put the phone face down, and it even covers the bottom portion of the front glass just below the display. For the back cutouts around the Apple logo and the camera/flash, the silicone cover offers additional barrier to keep the surface of the iPhone 5 away from any surface when you put the phone back down.
Outside the silicone layer, the Aegis Case for iPhone 5 has a hardened polycarbonate plastic shell. It fits into the molded silicone layer and covers the back and sides of the phone. The hard plastic is well made and well machines, and it has graph paper like texture so that it doesn't feel slippery in hand. The plastic cover also feels more rigid than some other polycarbonate shells, and together with the silicone layer, the case can certain protect your iPhone 5 from serious scratches, bumps and even some drop shock.
To provide full protection for your iPhone 5, Aegis Case comes with a scratch-resistant self-applicable screen protector. Though silicone cover protects a part of the front display, the screen protector covers the entire front glass and the silicone cover works well with the film on. The case is very easy to install thanks to the soft inner layer and the well cut and fit of the hard plastic cover.
The Aegis Case for iPhone 5 case is very functional thanks to the design. The case has cutouts for all the ports on the phone including the audio ports and Lightning port on the bottom, the silence button the side and the camera/flash on the back. All cutouts have silicone plugs that shield the ports from dust, lint and other potential hazards. The silicone plugs are thick enough so that you can easily use them with the plastic outer shell on.
The buttons on the iPhone 5 are hidden under the silicone cover, but the thick raised button covers make it easy to use them. The camera cutout offers enough space for the lens to get full view and the flash to fully illuminate. There's also a cutout for the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone 5, while it adds a bit of style to the design and breaks the block of black cover, it also leaves the surface vulnerable for something pointy to poke and scratch it.
Form fitting and easy to use, the Aegis Case for iPhone 5 is both protective and very functional. We love the two layer protection, the well made plastic cover, thick port and button silicone covers and the fact that the case covers and protects so much of the phone without getting in the way of using it. The case doesn't look particularly gorgeous but it's slim enough for a semi-rugged case and it's super easy to use. It also comes in nice set of colors for the silicone layer.
