Are two screens better than one? Depends on who you ask, but we can tell you that the Asus Taichi is a gorgeous premium Ultrabook with dual 1080p IPS displays, a strong metal casing, sleek design and strong performance. We look at the Core i7 model with a 256 gig SSD and 4 gigs of RAM running Windows 8 64 bit. The Taichi 21 has an 11.6" matte 1080p inner display and a multi-touch IPS display on the lid that also works with the included N-Trig digital pen. It looks very much like a member of the Zenbook Prime family and weighs just 2.75 pounds.
Asus manages to keep you in that Ultrabook comfort zone with no weird hinges, bottom-facing keyboards or sliding bits, but the dual displays can be jarring and they add to the cost of the machine. Hint: the inner panel isn't a touchscreen, and that drove us a bit bonkers. Still, there's a lot to like here and we give Asus credit for continually taking chances with design.
