Moshi has released two iPad mini cases that are based on their most popular designs, the VersaCover and the Concerti for iPad mini. The VersaCover for iPad mini protects the entire tablet with a hard polycarbonate casing and an origami style front cover. The case is light and slim and it's very easy to use. It has chock full of features including a built-in stand and a magnetic closure. The VersaCover for iPad mini comes in four earthy colors including aloe green, velvet gray, denim blue and sakura pink.
The VersaCover for iPad mini is a very protective case that covers the entire tablet. The hard shell casing holds the tablet and protects the back and sides from scratches, bumps and nicks. The casing is clear, goes well with the four cover colors, and when reflected in light, the Apple logo and the "iPad" branding can be seen through the casing. The surface of this polycarbonate casing is textured and the case certainly doesn't slip out of your hands. A small "moshi" badge sits in the middle of the left edge, tasteful and not intrusive. The case is molded perfectly to the shape of the iPad mini, and the hard plastic shell also provides good shock protection should you drop the tablet while in the VersaCover.
The front cover has rigid inserts but it's lined with microfiber inside and out. The soft surface not only feels nice in hand and gives you traction when you hold it, but also protects the screen from being scratched or nicked in your bag or backpack. Since the cover is magnetic, it stays nicely shut and won't accidently open in your bag. You can clean the microfiber cover with most suede cleaner on a damp cloth. Moshi cases often come in artistic colors and the VersaCover for iPad mini is no exception. If you're looking for tasteful earthy-tone colors on your iPad mini case, the moshi VersaCover for iPad mini should give you a few choices.
The moshi VersaCover for iPad mini is a very functional case with all the necessary cutouts for the buttons and ports. The case has a long cutout on the bottom to expose the speakers and the Lightning port and a generous cutout on the side to give you access to the screen lock combo button and volume buttons. On the top side, the VersaCover case has fitted cutouts for the top mic and the 3.5mm audio jack. The case covers the power button with a piece of plastic and it actually helps press the button easier. The case has a fitted cutout for the rear camera that gives the lens a full view.
The front cover has hidden features. The cover folds into several stand positions that offer 5 viewing angles in landscape or portrait mode, all of which are reasonably steady at holding up the tablet. The magnets in the cover help the origami style folded pieces stay together when you use the cover as a stand, and they also work with iPad mini's automatic wake up and sleep feature.
Weighing in at 3.8 ounces, the VersaCover for iPad mini is very light and the plastic casing and the thin front cover add very little bulk to your slim tablet. The case has a clean and simple design yet offers most convenient features such as automatic screen on/off and a built-in stand. The case offers access to all ports and buttons on the tablet and it's super easy to install and take off. Though ultra slim, the case offers very good protection for the entire tablet and we enjoy all four colors that are available for the front cover.
