Sena Cases offers over half a dozen leather cases for the iPad mini. We looked at the Sena Jornal Leather Case which has a texture exterior. The Sena Folio case for the iPad mini has a different leather finish and slightly different design. The Sena Folio case is slim and reasonably lightweight and comes in four nice leather colors: black, tan, red and brown.
The Sena Folio Apple iPad mini case is made with high quality leather that's buffed into very fine grain and looks very shiny. The premium leather feels soft and nice in hand, but the shiny and smooth surface is very slippery. So be sure to handle it with care. The Sena Folio case, in all of its available four colors, look very professional and fits in any office, presentation or meeting environment as well as at home or on the road. The case is in portfolio style with a snap closure instead of strap closure found on the Sena Jornal Case, and the snap shuts the case securely. The right side of the folio case is a leather tablet holder with a Velcro closure, a very similar one found on the Jornal. The tablet holder has soft velvet interior lining to protect the back of your iPad mini from scratches when you handle it in and out of the case.
Both the front and back covers have inserts that are rigid but not very hard. It can certain protect the iPad mini from any scratches, bumps, nicks and even absorb some shock damage should you drop the tablet while in the case. The Sena Folio case for iPad mini has even stitching that look solid and has matching color with the case. There's an embossed Sena logo on the front cover and a small tab on the back cover to work with the case's built-in stand. The Sena Folio case looks slim for a portfolio style case that offers both strong front and back covers, and weighs 5.2 ounces. The four colors in the collection look luscious and match the professional design of the case well.
The Sena Folio case for iPad mini is a very functional case that offers cutouts for all buttons and ports. The side cutout gives you free access to the multi-function button and the volume buttons. At the top of the case, you'll find a small cutout for the top mic which isn't easy to center, unless you push the tablet into the case and shut the Velcro tightly, but still it's not completely centered. It doesn't however affect your using the mic as plenty of sound can get through. The corner cutouts leave the audio out jack and the power button open. The Sena Folio case has a long bottom cutout that leaves out the bottom speakers and the Lightning port open. The rear camera cutout also requires you to push the tablet deep into the tablet holder, and it does get centered.
The Sena Folio case for the iPad mini has a built-in stand. The front cover folds back and tucks under the small flap on the back and creates two viewing angles, a more upright angle for media viewing and a flatter viewing angle for using the on-screen keyboard. The built-in stand is steady at holding up the tablet in both viewing angles. The front cover also has built-in magnets that work with iPad mini's auto wake and sleep feature, and it works well as long as you shut the front cover with the snap closure.
The Sena Folio Apple iPad mini case is a very professional looking case that's made with high quality material. We like the available colors in the collection and if portfolio style case is what you're looking for, the Folio has the classic style complete with a snap closure. The case is very protective of the iPad mini from small dangers in your backpack and computer bag, and can even provide some protection from shock damage. The case has convenient features like a built-in stand with two viewing options and a magnetic cover that works with iPad mini's auto wake/sleep feature. The case also offers easy access to ports and buttons. The Sena leather isn't cheap though and the shiny exterior is quite slippery.
