Moshi makes several back cover style cases in its iGlaze series and the iGlaze Kameleon offers something extra that the other iGlaze cases don't, a built-in aluminum kickstand. The iGlaze Kameleon case for the iPhone 5 is a hardshell case that's form fitting and adds very little bulk and weight to the phone. The case is very functional and super easy to use.
The Moshi iGlaze Kameleon case strikes you as a well made and stylish case. The polycarbonate frame actually has some thickness even though the case doesn't look like it's adding much bulk to the slim phone. The sides of the case have curves that make the case feel good to hold, and the back of the case has more texture while the sides of the case are smoother. The thickness of the hardshell can certainly protect your phone from any scratches and even some heavy nicks or bumps. The structure feels strong and should give your phone some protection against drops. The interior of the iGlaze Kameleon is lined with vegan leather that feels as soft as fine felt.
The iGlaze Kameleon is very easy to install and de-install. The case, though feels rigid when it's installed, still has some flexibility that allows you to put the iPhone 5 in or take it out easily. No struggling with it at all. The sides of the case come up just short of the front display, and when you lay the phone face down, the screen will touch the surface. While the iGlaze Kameleon doesn't give you a front protective film, it does come with a backside buffer film to protect the Apple logo on the back of your iPhone 5 since the case has a cutout to show the logo. The iGlaze Kameleon comes in black and white for match iPhone 5 colors.
The iGlaze Kameleon for the iPhone 5 is a very functional case. It offers easy access to all buttons and ports on the smartphone. Like many back cover cases, the Kameleon case leaves most of the top and bottom of the phone open, giving you access to the power button, audio ports and the Lightning port. The side cutout for the silence button and the volume buttons is a long cut that gives you plenty of room to operate the phone and the edges are tapered to make it easier for your finger to land on the buttons.
The cutout for the rear camera and flash is just big enough for the lens to have a full view and the flash to fully illuminate. Both the black and white versions of the case have black rims around the camera cutout to prevent glare from the flash. The backside buffer film has a cutout for the camera and flash as well. The iGlaze Kameleon case for the iPhone 5 has a built-in aluminum kickstand. It's much stronger than many integrated stands we've seen in iPhone cases. The folding gears feels solid and the stand is wide. It holds the iPhone 5 steadily at an angle that's great for media watching and video chatting.
The iGlaze Kameleon has a very nice design that does seem to disappear when you look at the phone straight on in matching white or black iPhone 5 colors. The case looks to be very well made, and it feels great in hand and weighs 1.4 ounces. We love the sturdy kickstand and how easy it is to put the phone in or take it out of the case. The backside protective film is nice to protect the exposed Apple logo, but no front glass protective film is included.
