The first thing to know about Combat, is that without a weapon equipped, you won't last long!
Now, there are two types of weapons:
Melee Weapons (ie. Swords, Axes, Staves, Clubs, etc...)
Ranged Weapons (ie. Bows, Crossbows, Slings, etc...)
You are allowed to equip both a Melee and a Ranged weapon at the same time, however you can only wield one at a time. To switch rapidly between an equipped Melee and an equipped Ranged weapon, use the Combat Toggle button:
Combat Toggle - Pressing this button will cause the character to toggle between equipped melee and range weapons. Of course both a ranged and a melee weapon must be equipped for this to work.
When equipping melee and ranged weapons, keep in mind the 'hands' of the weapons must match. The following combinations work:
1-handed melee weapon, a shield, 1-handed range weapon.
1-handed melee weapon, no shield, 1-handed or 2-handed range weapon.
2-handed melee weapon, no shield, 1-handed or 2-handed range weapon.
All weapons have several attributes that determine thier effectiveness:
Delay: (or speed of the weapon). The lower the delay is for a weapon, the faster a weapon is (ie. a dagger is faster than a battle axe).
Damage: (both mininum and maximum damage). The damage of a weapon is a random amount between (and including) the mininum and maximum damage, plus any strength or magic bonuses.
Once you have a weapon equipped, you now need an enemy to fight. Upon finding the enemy, just 'tap' on them.
A character with a melee weapon active will automatically close with the enemy and begin to fight them.
A character with a ranged weapon will move to the maximum range of the weapon, and begin firing upon the enemy. If the character is already in range, they will begin firing immediately.
That is about all there is to the basics of combat. Remember you can use any potions or cast spells that are available to your character.
