The pocket PC has difficulty retrieving email from some servers, such as Comcast.
There is a problem with sending email from PocketPCs with the PocketPC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 operating systems.
The problem has to do with how ISP is set up. The PPC has a problem with certain mail servers. Some servers are configured in a way that it does not have SSL enabled, but the operating system thinks it does have it enabled. So you need to do a registry tweak that forces the registry to tell the operating system not to use SSL. Here's the fix.
Follow these steps using with any registry editor software for Pocket PC:
1.Open the registry editor 2.Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox 3.Create a new DWORD value ForceOffSSL and give it a value of 1, Base=Decimal (tap Edit, and New DWORD Value). 4.Soft-reset device.
[You will need to use a third party registry editor, such as ?PHM Registry Editor,? which is a freeware program to make the registry changes. (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/pocketpc/phmregistry.html)
Note that the install does not work properly with some PPCs, so instead download the .cab file. Just put this in the PocketPC My Documents folder. Do an ActiveSync, and then click on the cab file from within the PPC File Explorer to install.]
