iPhone Game Review: Ninja Chicken Reviewed by SpaZtrigger
Oh no! All the ninja chickens are in the wrong place! Now you must help the clan leader sort the chicken by using your godly finger! Do YOU think you cam handle the pressure? Then get ready match chickens by color while not touching robot chickens! This ain't your grandma's Chicken Run!
You can sort the ninja chickens by color and you have 2 game modes to do that in! The objective is to put the ninja chicken in the mat that matches its color. Some times pigs and robot chickens will appear. You must put the pigs outside of the mats and you must NOT touch the robot chicken because they will ruin your combo. Now if it were just straightforward color matching, the gameplay would be boring. Ninja Chicken isn?t a boring game. As the levels progress the chickens go faster and the game throws you some new twists. In some levels you will have a color swap where two or more mats changes places with other mats. In other levels you will have something called memory time. This is where 2 or more mats lose their color and the player has to memorize where each ninja chicken is supposed to go. Fun!
There are two game modes, the regular mode and versus mode which essentially acts like a multiplayer mode. The regular mode has 8 levels, but each level offers 5 difficulty levels. You will want to try all the difficulty levels because each of them (Easy, Medium, Hard, Master and Endless) offers different gameplay experience. In the end, the game really had 40 levels in this mode. Combos help greatly at beating tougher levels, so here it is again: don?t touch the robot chicken! Combos also give you higher scores. In VS. mode you play against a friend. Both players grab each end of the iDevice, the objective is to do pretty much the same as in single player mode except for one thing: whenever you see a pig you can grab it and try to place it on the opponents side of the screen which makes him lose points. Sometimes you will see a shiny bag. The bags carry a gem and if you get enough gems then you unlock bonus content, which I'm not going to spoil! Touch controls work perfectly in Ninja Chicken, not glitches and tested on iOS 4. The game keeps both local and global scores via OpenFeint.
The graphics are very stylish, sharp and colorful. Putting chickens into Ninja suits, who?d thought?! The graphics look as cool as a high quality anime title. Clothing, helmets, and the whole nine yard are on bright and colorful display. It?s eye-catching and a pleasure to look at. You?ve got to applaud an original idea with original graphics.
Since this is a game about Ninja chickens, you would expect some chicken and ninja noises. Well in Ninja Chicken you get to hear both. You hear a chicken squawk, but it sounds like a ninja. The music is also very well composed. It has that ninja feel and goes along really well with the theme of this game. If you don't like the music then you always have the option to play your own.
Some games just have the luring looks and gameplay that grab your attention, Ninja Chicken is one of them. With 40 levels of gameplay and versus against a friend multiplayer mode, Ninja Chicken can also hold your attention for a while. The graphics are just absolutely amazing and sound package is very nice. For an original game, the price is right, and you will want to check it out!
