Video review: Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet on Sprint
      11/06/10 11:18 AM

The first of the US Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" Android tablets are here, and though all 4 major US carriers will offer it, we've gotten our hands on the Sprint version first. Sprint will sell the Tab for $399 with a 2 year data plan contract starting November 14th. T-Mobile's will be out shortly too, as will Verizon's (Verizon will sell it without a contract for the full $599 retail price).

We first covered the Samsung Galaxy Tab at the IFA trade show in Berlin a few months back when Samsung showed off their prototype. The looks, hardware quality and software impressed us then, and it still does now. The Tab has a 1024 x 600 capacitive multi-touch display that's very colorful and sharp. It's also responsive to touch and has good viewing angles. Like it's little cousin the Samsung Galaxy S phone, it runs on a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU with GPU and performance is sharp.

The Tab runs Android OS 2.2 Froyo with Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 on top. At first glance TouchWiz and the device bear a great resemblance to the Galaxy S (Epic 4G on Sprint), but the PIM and multimedia apps are significantly enhanced (that's a good thing).

The Tab has a GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth and 3G EV-DO Rev. A for data (there's no 4G on any of the Galaxy Tab models).

Here's our video review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab on Sprint:
