Clie NX70V, NX73, NX80 and NZ90 movie & video FAQ
      01/24/03 03:15 PM

1) Would you like to watch all those cool MPEG 1 movies that Pocket PC owners download from places like www.pocketmovies.net? Well you can!
Here's what you need to do:
- Mount the Memory Stick on your PC or Mac using MS Import. If it doesn't already exist, on your Memory Stick, you'll then need to create a new directory (aka folder) and name it MSSONY (uppercase). Inside the folder you created and named MSSONY, you'll need to create a folder called MOML0001. So that directory structure is: MSSONY/MOML0001/.
You'll need to re-name the MPEG1 movie(s) you wish to play on your NX70V using the MOVXXXXX.MPG convention. Use only numbers for the X's, and the first number must be 0 (zero). Take that nifty Spiderman trailer and rename it MOV01234.MPG, for example. Copy that to the MOML0001 folder inside the MSSONY folder you created.
You're set! Run Movie Player and make sure the popup format selector near the top of the app is set to MPEG Movie format. Watch your movie on that nice big screen!

2) Want to know how to watch movies on your PC/Mac you've recorded using the NX70V or NZ90 camera?
These .MQV files are actually encoded in the MPEG4 format. QuickTime 6 (a free download from Apple) can play these movies without a problem.
What you need to do:
You'll find the videos you've recorded with your Clie on the Memory Stick in the folder MQ_ROOT, then inside there you'll see a folder named 100MQV01. Inside there you'll find your movies. Copy them to your computer:
- On a Mac, mount the Memory Stick using MS Mount, then drag the .MQV files to your hard drive. Either change the file extension to .MPG or double click on the file once it's on your hard drive, then tell the Mac that you wish QuickTime 6 to be the default program used for .MQV files when it asks.
- On a PC, copy the files from the Memory Stick to the PC as mentioned in the Mac section just above. Change the file extensions to .MPG. Launch QuickTime and open the movies. Voila!

If you wish to edit these movies on your computer, you'll need to buy and download the Pro version of QuickTime for ~$30.00.
