Wow, it's hard not to fall in love with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1: it's got brains, it's super-slim and good looking in that understated ThinkPad kind of way. This 13.3" notebook is 0.65" at its thinnest point and it weighs just 3.73 lbs. yet it packs a full second gen Intel Core CPU, not a ULV CPU like its competitors (MacBook Air, we're looking at you).
Lenovo leaned its lesson with the lovely but incredible expensive ThinkPad X300 and X301. The X1 starts at a reasonable $1,349 for a well-equipped machine with a Core i5 2520M CPU and Intel HD 3000 graphics. You'll also get a 4 gigs of RAM, Intel Centrino WiFi and a low light webcam. It will be available May 17th.
The keyboard is simply the best we've ever used, the 350 NIT Gorilla Glass display is bright and sharp without too much glare and the machine can handle pretty much anything you throw at it (go ahead, order it with the Intel Core i7 option!). We even test 3D gaming, which isn't all bad news thanks to Intel's improved graphics in their second generation Core line.
