iPhone 4 Case Review: Case-Mate iPhone 4 Monsta Case (ATT and Verizon)

What's Hot: Incredibly cute, non-slippery and comes in multi-colors.

What's Not: The opening loses the shape a bit with use.

Many companies make iPhone 4 cases, but few had more fun than Case-mate when they designed the iPhone 4 Monsta Case! Cute, playful and in bright colors, these iPhone 4 Monsta Cases are eye-catching and different. The Case-mate iPhone 4 Monsta Case is a thick silicone case that?s protective and functional at the same time. It currently comes in four colors: green, purple, white and gray with matching monsters for each color.

Design

The Monsta case for iPhone 4 was going to be a little boogeyman monster imitation but it ended up being a cute and comic character that everyone will love and no children should be scared of. The case has a fun and unique design that uses the iPhone 4?s hardware to work with the look of the case, like through the cutout on the back, the iPhone 4?s camera and flash become an eye of the monsta. The case also plays around with color combos that add the cuteness to the overall look.

The Case-mate iPhone 4 Monsta Case is made of silicone with medium thickness, so that it doesn?t get too bulky yet feels substantially protective of your iPhone 4. While the face of the monster on the back has smooth surface, the rest of the case has raised dots that help with handling the phone better and prevents it from slipping out of your hands. The raised molded dots feel soft enough and certainly accentuate the feel of the texture.

The Monsta case for iPhone 4 wraps around and covers the front edges of the phone, so that when you put your iPhone 4 face down on a flat surface, the phone will sit on the edges of the case instead of the phone?s screen. And for an added effect, at the top of the front edges, the iPhone 4 Monsta Case has a strand of monster?s hair, we assume.

Features

The Case-mate iPhone 4 Monsta Case has cutouts for all ports but hides the volume buttons and the power button under the silicone cover, like with many iPhone 4 cases. The buttons are rigid and easy to use. The Monsta Case works with both AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 as the cutout for the silence button is big enough to accommodate both versions. It?s the same philosophy for the bottom cutout: it?s large enough for the iPhone 4 to fit most docking stations and audio accessories while in the Monsta Case thanks to the generous cutout for the 30-pin connector, the speaker and mic grills.

The Case-mate iPhone 4 Monsta Case has a firm mold and shouldn?t lose its form easily for the most part. The opening edges however are quite loose, and this makes it super easy to put the case on or take it off of the iPhone 4, but it also can lose its shape faster and doesn?t hold tight onto the screen any longer.

Conclusion

If you ever wish to have an iPhone 4 case with cartoon-like characters on it, the Case-mate iPhone 4 Monsta Case won?t disappoint. No matter which color you fancy the case has a great color matching for the monster to stand out from the background. It?s really a striking case and it?s very protective of your phone. The cutouts give the iPhone 4 full functionality while in the case and fit both AT&T and Verizon versions. The case is easy to use and handle, and not slippery. Only minor issue is the front edges get loose, but it isn?t really a big issue.
