What's Hot: Ultra slim and light, open access to all ports and buttons, and working with 3rd party accessories easily.

What's Not: Needs more color options.

If OtterBox Defender case represents the rugged cases for protecting your iPhone 4, the Case-mate Barely There case represents the ultra slim spectrum of iPhone 4 cases and it's protective yet as its name suggests, barely there thin. The case helps prevent scratches to your iPhone 4's surface yet adds very little bulk and weight to the ultra slim phone. Now, if you like the form of Case-mate?s Barely There case but want a little more style, and you are a fan of Picasso or Cubism art, Case-mate now offers the Cubist case for the iPhone 4. The Case-mate iPhone 4 Cubist case is essentially the Barely There case with a 3D patterns sculptured on the back, and the patterns are a fusion of cubism shapes and geometry elements. The plastic case comes in black and clear, though the Mondrian fan inside of me wants to see some colors!

The Case-mate Barely There case was designed to be a minimalist?s case and to cure the ?grip of death? reception problem with the iPhone 4. The Cubist Case for iPhone 4 has a similar form that covers the back, corners and two sides of the iPhone 4, leaving most of the top and bottom of the phone open for access to ports and buttons. The case also comes with a screen protector and an installation kit for the screen protector. You will need it if you put your phone face down often as the case doesn?t wrap around to cover any space on the display bezel, which means you can?t rest the phone on the case and your phone?s screen will touch the surface when you put it face down.

As with the Barely There case, the iPhone 4 Cubist case is made with flexible plastic and it?s durable enough to prevent scratches and pokes against the iPhone 4?s surface in a backpack or a travel bag. The case is extremely form fitting yet has some flexibility so that it?s easy to put it on or take it off of the iPhone 4. The case covers the four corners of the iPhone 4, providing structural support and impact resistance. The Case-mate iPhone 4 Cubist case has quite a different look in the two available colors, and the black version shows more dirt. Since the case is plastic, you can clean it easily with soap and water.

The Case-mate iPhone 4 Cubist is a very functional case thanks to the slim form and design. The case leaves the most top and bottom open, so you have full access to the 30-pin connector, speaker, audio jack and power button. And since the case adds very little thickness to the iPhone 4, you can use almost every docking station and speaker with the iPhone 4 sitting in the case. The Case-mate also has a long cutout on the side for the silence button and the volume buttons, and it fits both the AT&T and Verizon versions of the iPhone 4. The case also has a perfect cutout for the rear camera and flash.

The Case-mate iPhone 4 Cubist case is for those who want a little more style than the plain Barely There case. It has all the features found on the Barely There case: slim and light form, easy access to all ports and buttons, and works with 3rd party accessories. The Cubist design conveys the idea nicely and modern art fans should find it interesting. The case looks quite different in clear from the black version, we wish there were more color options in this case model.
