Acer Iconia Tab A501 Video Review
      12/15/11 04:01 PM

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 was an early entrant into the 10" Android Honeycomb tablet arena that hit in April 2011. It was more affordable than most at the time, but was (and is) a bit on the thick and heavy side compared to the mass market darlings of thin and light industrial design, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and iPad 2.

In late September, AT&T started selling the Acer Iconia A501 as their budget tablet offering. It's almost half the price of the HTC Jetstream, in fact. It sells for $329 with contract and $479 without. It has 3G/4G HSPA+ for data anywhere AT&T service is available, along with the usual WiFi, Bluetooth and a GPS.

The tablet runs on a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU with a gig of RAM and 16 gigs of internal storage. It has a full size USB port with USB host capability (nice), dual cameras and a microSD card slot. It's pretty much identical to the Iconia A500, and AT&T hasn't bloated it with added software beyond an data manager and AT&T Navigator.
