What's Hot: Bold design, built in stands and comes in nice color options.

What's Not: Top mic is covers, but the top two corners of the iPad 2 aren't.

MapiCases is a new brand that sells high-end leather cases for mobile devices. MapiCases offers several quality leather cases for the iPad 2, and the Piges iPad 2 Case is one of the more versatile cases in the collection. It offers free access to ports and buttons on the iPad 2, and has two built-in stands with different viewing angles. The Piges Leather Frame Case comes in four color options.

The MapiCases Piges leather case for iPad 2 has a form fitting design with bold stitching and a wide closure flap. The case is top loading that makes it very easy to use, just slide the tablet in, close the flap and secure it with the rear snap. The case covers the back of the iPad 2 with a layer of insert and a layer of thin but soft padding. The insert and padding stop at where the iPad 2 curves on the back, and the case covers the curved portions on the back and front bezel surrounding the screen with leather. The case has soft Alcantara lining, a material found on some car seats with soft surface.

The case covers just right amount of the front bezel, and the leather cover shouldn't get in the way of your using the touch screen as it doesn't come too close to the screen. The dramatic hand-sewn saddle style stitching keeps the front and back of the leather pieces together. We like the strength of the stitching, but for those who are looking for more subtle or classier look, the saddle style stitching might not fit that image. The MapiCases Piges leather case is made with smoothed out leather and comes in black, dark brown, tan and red color options.

The flap closure design on the Piges Leather Frame case is bold and convenient for loading and unloading the tablet. It also leaves out the power button and the audio jack open for easy access. And since the case doesn't cover all the way up to the top, it only needs a semi-circle cutout for the rear camera. One thing that does get covered is the top mic for video chat. We like the style this design creates, but also worry about the two top corners that are exposed without any structural coverage that provides shock protection should you drop the tablet. The case has a side cutout for the screen lock and volume button and lets you use these buttons easily. The bottom cutout fits the 30-pin connector perfectly, and you shouldn't have any trouble using a syncing/charging cable. The front cover leaves out the video chat camera and the Home button for easy access as well. The case also has sound holes over the speaker grill on the back to let the sound through.

Another dramatic look on the back of the case comes from the two built-in stands. They both have inserts with soft padding. The longer and bigger stand can prop up your iPad 2 in a more upright angle for media viewing while the smaller and shorter stand can prop up your iPad 2 in a more flat angle for typing on the screen. Both stands can fold tightly into the back of the case secured by snaps, and they both work very well as sturdy stands.

Made with genuine leather, the MapiCases Piges Leather Frame Case for iPad 2 has a few things in design that are eye catching including the oversized closure flap, the bold saddle style stitching, and a large and a small stand. The case is form fitting for the tablet, and it's easy to use. It weighs 5.6 ounces and comes in a nice black gift box. We like the classic leather color options, the soft lining and appreciate all the cutouts that make the tablet very functional in the case. The stands also work very well. Two small things to watch out for; the closure flap covers the top mic and the top two corners of the iPad 2 aren't covered by the case.
