iPhone Case Review: Snoopy Hardshell Case for iPhone 4S/4 Review

Editor's Ratings (1-5): 4

What's Hot: Looks cool indeed, easy to use, thin and light.

What's Not: Not much protection for the display, sides are a bit slippery.

iLuv has recently signed a partnership with Peanuts to make cases, skins and other accessories featuring the beloved characters in Peanuts comic series. Among the characters, Snoopy gets his own series of hardshell cases and proactive films for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4. The hard shell case series includes Snoopy Behavior series, Snoopy Message Series (reviewed here), Snoopy Green Series and Snoopy Cartoon Series. And don't worry, Snoopy isn't alone: all the Peanuts characters are here.

Design

The Snoopy Character Series Hardshell Case has a minimalistic design. The case is made with treated hard plastic that's form fitting for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4. The case is light and thin, but provides good protection against scratches and dings to the back and sides of the phone. The case covers the vertical sides and wraps around to cover all four corners of the iPhone 4S. The case doesn't however wrap around the front of the display, so when you put your phone face down, the screen of your iPhone 4S will touch the surface. The Peanuts design is printed on the back with a grippy soft touch surface that feels good in hand. The side covers are bit more slippery than the back surface.

Features

The Snoopy Character Series Hardshell Case is very easy to use. Though plastic is hard, it also has some flexibility making it easy to put on or take off of the iPhone 4S. The case has large opens on the top and bottom of the iPhone 4S/4, leaving the power button, audio out jack and top mic open on top of the phone, as well as the 30-pin connector, bottom mic and speaker open on the bottom. The case has two side cutouts, one for the silence button that fits all iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S models and the other for the volume buttons. The rear cutout leaves out the camera and flash with enough space for the flash to illuminate fully.

Conclusion

If you grew up with the Peanuts gang, these cases will tug your heartstrings with familiar characters and images. The case is thin and light, adds very little bulk to your slim iPhone 4S. It's easy to use and works with most accessories including speakers and docking stations thanks to the long cutout on the bottom. The case protects your phone from scratches, bumps and nicks well thanks to the hard plastic shell that covers the back, two long sides and all four corners. What the case doesn't cover might worry some users, and these areas including the top and bottom sides and the front display.
