It seems that Sony was just fooling when they said their cool new Sony Vaio Duo 13 convertible and Sony Vaio Pro 11 and 13 inch Ultrabooks with Intel fourth generation Haswell CPUs would be available June 9. As it turns out, you can pre-order them starting June 9 (today) via the Sony website for delivery at the end of June to the end of July, depending on your model of choice. If you want the $2,300 top of the line Vaio Pro 13 with the 1.8GHz Intel Core i7-4500U with Intel HD 4400 graphics, you can get it a June 25 according to Sony's website. The base Vaio Pro 11 ships June 18 and a mid-range Vaio Pro 13 model is listed as shipping on June 25. These days are bouncing around, and in the past 30 minutes some models changed to "out of stock", while other models' ship dates moved up.
The Sony Vaio Duo 13 slider convertible is listed as shipping July 9 for both the Core i5-4200U and Core i7-4500U models. The interesting but very expensive $2,700 Vaio Duo 13 with a Core i7-4650U and Intel HD 5000 graphics for a more serious graphics punch, is listed as shipping on July 30. All Duo 13 models have SSD drives (128 to 512 gigs) and 8 gigs of RAM. Like the lovely Duo 11, the Duo 13 has a digital pen and an N-Trig digitizer.
The Vaio Pro 11 and 13 are available with fourth generation Intel Core i5 and i7 CPUs and Intel HD 4400 graphics (sorry no HD 5000 graphics). They have 4 gigs of RAM base and you can get them with 8 gigs of RAM. All have SSD drives with the base model at 128 gigs and the higher end models sporting a 256 or 512 gig SSD.
So if you're dying to peruse Sony's hot new Haswell offerings or want to be one of the first to snag these new models, hurry over to Sony's website now. Our local Sony Style store in Dallas doesn't have the new machines yet, and they have no idea when they'll drop, so it looks like the website is the best bet for now.
