Google Announces New Nexus 7
      07/24/13 05:46 PM

Forget clever names like Nexus 7 Mark II, Google's second generation 7" tablet is simply called the Nexus 7, or Nexus 7 (2013), which might seem a little passe come 2014. As you might expect, everything's been spruced up a bit and the display is now full HD 1920 x 1080, making it the highest resolution 7 inch tablet on the market. It will run on the quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro with 2 gigs of RAM and 16 or 32 gigs of storage. The 16 gig WiFi model is $229 and the 32 gig WiFi model is $269. There will also be an unlocked 4G LTE edition in the US that will support multiple carriers.

Like the last Nexus 7, the new model is made by Asus and it keeps the pleasing soft touch finish while updating the look with minimalist black tones. The new Nexus 7 has a rear 5MP camera and a front 1.2MP video chat camera. The display is protected by "scratch-resistant Corning glass" (no mention of Gorilla Glass) and the tablet has dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Other goodies include stereo speakers, a narrower and lighter casing and (of course) the latest version of Android: 4.3.

Check it out on the Google Play Store here:
