      10/23/13 03:34 PM

Walmart today announced it's adding tablets to its store trade-in program. The retailer also confirmed that it will sell the new iPad Air for $479 at 8 a.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 1, and the iPad Mini for $399 when it's available. Here are the details on the trade-in program:

Walmart adds tablets to its store trade-in program:

. Starting at 9 a.m. local time on Wednesday, customers can now trade in their tablets at more than 3,600 stores and Sam's Club locations nationwide. Similar to its smartphone program, customers can receive up to $300 for their current tablet, which will then be applied toward the purchase of a new tablet.
. For example, a customer would receive approximately $165 for their Apple iPad 4 Wi-Fi 16GB.

Walmart will carry the new iPad Air for $479 on Friday, Nov. 1. At this time, the iPad Mini will be sold for $399 when it becomes available. Date to be determined by Apple.

Walmart is rolling back the prices on current iPads effective immediately:

. iPad with Retina Wi-Fi 16GB will rollback for from $499 currently on rollback for $449 down from $499
. iPad Mini Wi-Fi 16GB will rollback from $329 to $299
. iPad 2 will be sold at $399

Starting at 9 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Oct. 23, customers can bring their working tablets to an electronics department associate in their local Walmart or Sam's Club. The value of the tablet will be determined based on the following questions on its condition and specifications:

. Does it power on?
. Is the display fully functional and free of dead spots?
. Is the tablet and display completely free of cracks?
. What is the wireless carrier?

Once the customer accepts the offer, the trade-in value will be applied to a new tablet of their choice. If a customer's new tablet costs less than the trade-in value of the old tablet, he or she will receive the balance on a Walmart gift card.

For more information, customers should visit their local Walmart store or Sam's Club.
