Ventev Chargedock 2000 Battery Charger Review
      01/30/15 07:06 PM

The Ventev Chargedock 2000 is a desktop charging stand with a built-in 2000mAh rechargeable battery. You can charge your iPhone while the dock is connected to the AC or when it's away from power. The built-in battery has enough power to give the iPhone 6 a full charge. The dock keeps your iPhone upright while charging it so you can use your phone for browsing or video chatting.

Design

The Ventev Chargedock 2000 is compact and light. It measures 2.75 x 2.36 x 0.90 inches and weighs 2.8 ounces. The dock has a foldable cover. When it's flipped open the cover can prop up the iPhone in the Lightning connector stand and when it's closed, it turns the dock into a small puck for easy carrying. The pop-up cover connects to the dock via two small hinges and it doesn't open too wide. This means the angle of the iPhone is good for browsing the web, checking your email, seeing incoming call notifications and productive app that don't require landscape mode or flatter viewing angles. The Lightening connector is easy to use and it has room for most iPhone cases so you don't have to take your phone out of the case to charge on the dock. The Ventev Chargedock 2000 has four orange LED lights that indicate the built-in battery's power level. A button on the back checks the battery level and turns on charging. A micro USB recharging port lives on the back of the Chargedock for charging your iPhone and/or the built-in battery in the dock, but it doesn't support syncing.

Features

The Ventev Chargedock 2000 Battery Charger has a built-in Lithium Polymer battery that's 2000mAh in capacity. The Lightning connector on the dock outputs 5V 1A power and it works with iPhone and iPad models with a Lightening port. We tested it with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the iPad Air 2, and found that the dock could charge all easily though it couldn't hold the weight of the iPad Air 2 to function as a docking stand. The battery can charge the iPhone 6's battery from empty to full in about two hours and can top up the iPad Air 2's battery in about 2.5 hours. The Ventev Chargedock 2000 comes with a USB charging cable and you can recharge the battery via either computer or AC outlet.

Conclusion

The Ventev Chargedock 2000 Battery Charger provides a convenient way to charge your iPhone in the office or home and some extra power on the go. We love the versatility this charger brings: it saves you from having to pick up your phone to see notifications or hold your phone for a long video chatting or conferencing sessions; and juices up your iPhone 6 with a full charge. We wish the viewing angle could be less upright for better typing on the screen.

Editor's Ratings (1-5): 4
What's Hot: Compact and does double duty as a stand and a portable battery.
What's Not: Viewing angle is a bit too upright.
