Acer Aspire R7 Full Review: a Unique Windows 8 Convertible

We've seen Windows 8 touchscreen laptops that twist, flip and slide. But Acer's still managed to find something different yet highly functional with their Ezel hinge in the Acer Aspire R7. This is a larger than the average convertible and it would make a great main PC or family machine. With a very good 1920 x 1080 multi-touch display, 2W Dolby enhanced stereo speakers and a capable Intel Core i5 CPU, it's also a good multimedia laptop.

The Aspire R7 works in laptop, tablet, presentation mode and more. The hinge is strong and we found the many usable positions actually useful rather than gimmicky. The backlit keyboard is pleasant but the trackpad placed behind the keyboard is dubious. Still, the Acer Aspire R7 is definitely worth a look if you're in the market for a relatively thin and light 15.6" convertible with a great display.
