Is it a myth that you must pay high price for a pair of comfortable and good sounding gaming headset? The Kingston HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset proves that it is. The HyperX Cloud Headset lists for only $99 and you can get even cheaper street prices. But the headset is one of the most comfortable headsets for long gaming sessions with clear audio and very nicely presented bass. The large collection of cables that's included with the headset makes it more versatile than most gaming headsets we've seen on the market. For holiday shoppers who are looking for something for gamers, the HyperX Cloud Headset is a great choice.
The Kingston HyperX Cloud Headset is designed for comfort. The HyerX Cloud's 12.3-ounce body (including the mic and cable) is built with sturdy aluminum that holds the large ear cups over your ears firmly. The headband has soft, almost bouncy padding and the ear cups have memory foam cushions. The HyperX Cloud Headset comes with two sets of ear cup cushions: one with leather exterior and one with velour soft fabric in case you're allergic to leather or leather makes you sweat. The ear cups are large enough to cover your ears but not too huge that they feel oversized. The headband construction plus the thick and plushy ear cups ensure high-level of noise isolation. The ear cups come in either black with red accents and logo, or black with white accents and logo.
The HyperX Cloud Headset has a non-detachable braided cable that ends with a mic and a headset plugs (split) and comes with a detachable mic with a boom arm and foam cover. You can easily adjust the mic's positions with its gooseneck. If the 3-feet built-in cable isn't long enough, the HyperX Cloud Headset comes with both extenders: one is a braided 3-feet cable that offers a control stick for you to mute/unmute the mic, change volume or turn the mic off, and the other one is non-braided extension cable that's over 6-feet long. Both extension cables have separate mic and headphone plugs. If you're using the HyperX Cloud Headset with a smartphone or tablet, the headset comes with a mic and headphone combo cable as well.
The Kingston HyperX Cloud Headset has large dynamic 53mm drivers that output powerful audio with ease. The response frequency falls between 15Hz to 25KHz and the ambient noise attenuation is 20 dBA. The condenser mic outputs -39+/-3dB. With all the technical jargons out of the way, how does the audio sound through the HyperX Cloud Headset?
For gaming, the HyperX Cloud Headset offers excellent audio experience. The powerful drivers bring gaming music and sound FX close to your ears and in great detail and clarity. If you're upgrading from a lower-end headset, you'll notice new sound pieces you didn't hear before. Volume can go quite high and thanks to the closed design, explosions in games and movies sound amplified via the HyperX Cloud Headset. As mentioned before, the design does an excellent job at blocking out ambient noise, so much so that you'll have a hard time hearing your own voice during multiplayer gaming. Highs, mids and lows have good balance with some emphasis on the bass. This audio treatment gives gaming audio and movie FX a leg up. So if you're buying a headset for gaming, the HyperX Cloud Headset can certainly handle anything you through at it. Note: when you use it with a PC, select stereo instead of audio 5.1 to get all in-game audio channels.
For music playback, the HyperX Cloud Headset doesn't disappoint either. The accentuated bass plays well with many genres of music including rock, rap, workout/dance and more. Highs and mids also sound good in most genres including classical and instrumental, with only occasional harsh sounding high-pitched instruments. As an overall music playback headset, the HyperX Cloud is a good choice for mixed genres. The noise isolation also helps with music and movie playback, helping you immerse in the experience.
For voice calls, the HyperX Cloud Headset offers clear and loud audio on both incoming and outgoing ends. The included mic/headphone combo cable works with any phone that has a 3.5mm audio jack, and the extension cable with a control stick even offers mute mic function. The mic is close to your mouth and able to produce loud outgoing voice.
If you're looking for a headset for gamers with PCs, PS4s, notebooks, tablets and smartphones, the HyperX Cloud Headset should be on your short list for its enhanced bass, clear sound, loud volume and versatility. The headset is one of the most comfortable headsets for gaming sessions that last 3 hours or longer. The effective noise isolation makes this headset a good movie watching and music playback headset. The audio is clear in most music tracks with noticeable bass enhancements, and audio is booming in movie FX scenes. The winning bit for the HyperX Cloud Headset is that you don't have to pay a high price for high quality audio and hardware.
